The Tradition of Tladi According to the ancient traditions of the Sotho people of Gauteng, Tladi is the African equivalent of the Thunderbird, the bringer of lightning. The "Milky Way" known as molala-tladi, is “the roosting place of the tladi bird” and in Sotho belief, the molala-tladi "supports the sky, preventing it from falling on the earth." DirectionsFrom the M1 ? Take the Grayston Drive off-ramp and turn towards Sandton (right if travelling South towards Johannesburg, left if travelling North towards Pretoria). ? Turn right into Linden Street. ? Follow Linden until you are forced to take a sharp left turn to avoid entering a boomed town house complex. Continue along Linden and cross over North Road ? at this intersection Linden becomes Edward Rubenstein Drive. ? Go through the security boom. Tladi Lodge will be on your left on the corner of David Street and Edward Rubenstein Drive. From Rivonia Road ? Turn left into Marion Road if travelling South towards Sandton City, or right into Marion if travelling North towards Rivonia. (Marion Road is between Grayston Drive and the Morningside Clinic). ? Turn left into Edward Rubenstein Drive. Go through the security boom and travel all the way down Edward Rubenstein to number 44 (on the corner of David Street and Edward Rubenstein).
